Buying a thoughtful gift with all natural ingredients should not be so hard. Toxins are all around us – in the food we eat, the products we purchase for our home, our personal care products, and even the toys we buy our little ones. This year, when completing your holiday shopping, find the perfect gift without sacrificing your loved one’s health by intentionally purchasing products that are safe and non-toxic. I’ve created a wish list full of great ideas that includes something for everyone.
Non-toxic gift ideas for the kitchen
The tools we use to prepare our food impact the toxin content of what we eat (have you seen all the news stories lately about air fryers and the PFAS chemicals in their coatings?). Avoid toxic chemicals from food preparation by sticking with glass, cast iron and stainless steel, and staying away from anything non-stick and plastic.
Stainless steel pots and pans
Every kitchen needs a high quality stock pot and a variety of sizes of pots and pans. Stainless steel is a durable choice you can feel good about.
Stainless steel utensils
Utensils are often cheap and plastic, and I just don’t feel comfortable using them in hot foods. I also want to avoid the forever chemicals often found in plastics. A few years ago I asked for a set of stainless steel utensils for Christmas, and they are still going strong.
Stainless steel coffee maker
My husband received a Presto percolator coffee pot as a gift last year. All the parts that touch the liquid are stainless steel.
Cast iron skillet
If you are looking for a gift that will last forever, a cast iron skillet can’t be beat.
Cast iron dutch oven
Consider pairing a sourdough starter (organic of course) with this cast iron Dutch oven as a tasty gift.
Water bottles
In our family, we each have our water bottle that we use all day, every day. Having a stainless or glass, non-plastic water bottle is essential to keep our beverages safe. Look for glass or stainless, and avoid plastic.
I use this 40 oz Stanley but with a stainless steel straw instead.
A non-toxic pantry
I love receiving food as a gift – I mean, don’t we all love to eat? If you are gifting food this year, watch labels closely for natural ingredients. Here are a few of my favorite pantry items to gift.
Rosebud’s natural seasonings and fruit butters
The flavor of Rosebud’s products are amazing, and they are made from certified organic ingredients. Plus, I love supporting small businesses, especially at the holidays. Try the “I 💜 GARLIC”. Plus take 10% off your order with discount code BETHANY.
Grass-fed meat
Meat is expensive, and high quality options are harder and harder to come by. Help a loved one avoid the chemicals found in many mass-produced cuts of meat by gifting grass-finished beef, heritage breed pork, wild-caught seafood or organic chicken. Chances are there is a farmer near you (or near your loved one) selling delicious options, and you can support a local business by purchasing direct from the farm. If you cannot find a local farm, look for an online grass-fed meat delivery service (a Wild Pastures membership is one example) selling meat raised in the United States.
Glass food storage
Don’t let your loved ones cook their amazing grass-finished beef in a cast iron skillet only to store the leftovers in plastic! Gift glass food storage instead.
Natural personal care gift ideas
The skin is the body’s largest organ, and every toxin we use can be absorbed into the body. Maybe that has something to do with why so many of us have sensitive skin these days? The ultimate self care gift does not contain toxic ingredients. The good news is, there are more options today than ever before.
Natural skin care and makeup
This year, give the gift of non-toxic skincare and body lotion from a family-owned company in Alabama called Toups & Co. Their products are all organic, made from tallow and olive oil, and scented with essential oils. Use their tallow balm instead of body lotion! In addition to a tallow balm, Toups & Co. carries a variety of makeup, skin care, facial products, as well as gorgeous gift sets like this spa set.
Dry brush set
Dry brushing is believed to have many detoxifying health benefits, plus it just feels good. Gift a beautiful wooden dry brush set to a loved one.
Organic Goat Milk Soap
Commercial soaps can be so toxic, containing lots of chemicals. The scents may smell good, but they are not good for you. Instead, look for an organic goat milk soap.
A natural and non-toxic closet
Our clothing used to be made from all natural materials, but modern synthetic textiles are certainly not. These materials touch our bodies all day long, rubbing against our skin. Give the gift of clothing made from organic materials, and you will notice the difference in the feel immediately.
I purchased an organic cotton undershirt for my sons recently, and it is SO soft! Wearing the undershirt with any other shirt provides an economical way to protect your loved one’s skin without them needing to replace their whole wardrobe.
Organic wool or cashmere sweaters are a beautiful gift, especially when colored with non-toxic dyes. They are available in many different styles.
Keeping the toy box toxin-free
Those painted and plastic toys can be shockingly full of toxins, so this is another area to be especially careful as you give the little ones in your life fun gifts. The good news is that there are lots and lots of great options that are not only non-toxic, but also build fine motor skills and cognitive functions.
Wooden toys
Most wooden toys are a great option. A few options include wooden building blocks, a wooden train set, or wooden instruments – but there are many more gorgeous wooden toy options available.
Art easel
A wooden art easel will inspire those young artists. Pair the easel with some beeswax crayons or some washable paint sticks.
Experience gifts
The best gifts are the ones that bring us together, spending precious time. Consider an experience gift, such as a museum membership or an art class, especially one that you can take together with your littlest loved ones. New parents especially tend to appreciate having less of an onslaught of toys during holidays and also appreciate family members spending time with their little ones.
Non-toxic gift ideas for around the house
Help your loved ones upgrade items around their home to ones that don’t contain potentially harmful toxins with these easy swaps.
Beeswax candles
Replace those strongly scented candles with beautiful beeswax candles scented with essential oils.
Essential oil diffuser
Replace all the air fresheners and scented candles with an essential oil diffuser. The newest diffusers don’t require water, making them less work to keep running regularly.
Organic bedding
We spend hours daily in our beds, so just like our clothes the materials in our mattresses, sheets, and pillows can affect our health. Purchasing the best organic mattresses is expensive, but swapping them out for organic pillows and sheets can greatly improve the quality of your bedding.
Air purifiers
Help your loved ones remove fine particles from the air, along with pet dander and allergens by gifting an air purifier. Place the best air purifiers in the bedrooms, or wherever you spend the most time. Look for a HEPA filter purifier. We have one in each bedroom, plus our living room.
Stocking stuffers
Keep those small gifts, like the stocking stuffers, non-toxic too. Look for grass-finished chocolate and organic candy.
Organic chocolate
Organic candy
Yum Earth makes a variety of organic candies, such as candy canes, perfect for a special occasion.
Organic socks
Organic socks are a great stocking stuffer.
Essential oils
I recommend the organic essential oils at Plant Therapy.
Gift cards
Not sure what your loved one will like? Gift cards to businesses that sell non-toxic products are an option too. Consider Chipotle, L.L. Bean, or even Amazon.
Make next year one full of non-toxic living through non-toxic products for you and your loved ones with these great gift ideas!
