Jumpsuits, life update and a quiz
Happy Monday all, it’s a new week and February is well underway. I’m thinking about spring, and we had a couple of pretty warm days last week but then it was cold and wet. So I’ve been picking out spring clothes, and am sharing a couple of jumpsuit outfits I found plus some life updates and a fun quiz for February. But first, a funny meme. (I think this meme is hilarious, but my kids think it is not – what do you think?)

Some weeks feel like time just flies by and this was one of those. On Monday, my sons had a Teen Council meeting. Teen Council is the part of our homeschool support group that plans social activities for the older youth, and it is run by the youth themselves. Both my sons and several of their friends are on the council this year, and they’ve been planning an activity every month, with a little help from another mom and I.

Last month they planned a formal dance, which turned out to be way easier than I anticipated (and I got to wear my new favorite sweater I talked about last week because parents weren’t expected to dress up). I’m trying to help the teens learn to approach a new experience one step at a time and think about “what do I need to do next” and how they can divide the work up between them. This month they have planned a bowling outing. They must really be enjoying the activities and the planning, because they are talking about holding activities in the summer months, unlike past years.

Tuesday we had friends invited for dinner. One of my close friends recently received a Cricut for her birthday, and she wanted me to show her how to iron vinyl onto some shirts after dinner. Unfortunately, that was the day our electrician chose to finish a project that has been in the works for months, and that project required our power to be turned off for what was planned to be 5 hours, but ended up being over 8. Since all my dinner menu required the oven, and my iron wasn’t going to work either, we rescheduled.
Wednesday was pretty quiet, but Thursday was not. Kevin decided it has been too long since we had an overnight date getaway, and he had a free hotel reward night that expires soon, so before work I researched options within a few hours drive and booked a hotel for later this month. There is a Trader Joe’s near the hotel – I’ve never bought anything there so tell me what I should buy!

We celebrated 20 years of marriage last year, but I don’t want to be complacent about our relationship. We make spending time together nearly every day a priority, which is usually just hanging out on the couch together at the end of the day. And we try to do an overnight getaway a couple times a year. Quality time is definitely my love language, while his is physical touch (lots of hugs). And he also hates taking personality tests, but somehow I got him to take this one years ago!
Squirrel moment – speaking of quizzes – today is the 10th of the month, and Marcia in the Middle is hosting a “10 on the 10th” linkup party – and I almost missed it. My answers are at the end of the post.

I took off early from work Thursday to attend the graduation planning meeting for our older son. We’ve been meeting every month since July, but there is still a lot left to accomplish. In addition to the graduation, we plan to have a reception afterwards and we are hosting a party with three other families that evening.
Thursday evening, a homeschool group my younger son is part of met at a local business called Art Lab and painted a “Fruit of the Spirit” picture.

Friday I worked for a half day and then took my younger son to the homeschool group we’ve had with three other families for many years. I teach a nutrition class this year. For the week’s class, we learned about the cardiovascular system and made a healthy chicken nugget recipe using sweet potatoes (they were so good!). Then Kevin and I made homemade pizzas for supper before I spent some time working with my older son on a few problems from his community college statistics class (yay, math!).
Since moving to Kentucky, we see my family far less than I would like. On Saturday, we met my parents in southern Illinois for dinner, then spent the night and attended the church where my dad preached on Sunday. That was definitely the best part of the week for me!
I’ve been eyeing some cute jumpsuits for spring, hoping the weather will get the hint. I love this light blue casual jumpsuit – I’m into cute comfy casual lately and this one checks all the boxes.

And I’m starting to think about possible outfits for graduation this spring. I tend towards dresses for these types of occasions, but I’m also contemplating something like this black jumpsuit paired with a blazer.

Now – for the 10 on the 10th fun questions:

1. Would you rather celebrate Valentine’s Day at a cozy restaurant or home cozied up in your favorite jammies?
Easiest question on the list – I prefer a night at home cozied up in jammies over a restaurant out on a normal night, and on Valentine’s Day, restaurants are way too crowded for us. Our very first Valentine’s Day together, we went out to dinner at a restaurant that doesn’t take reservations and waited hours to get a table. Since that year, we have not gone out to dinner on Valentine’s Day. Occasionally we will go out on the day before or the day after, but this isn’t a holiday that we focus on.
2. Would you rather eat red velvet cake or wear red velvet?
I’m going with wear red velvet. I am not a fan of red velvet cake, but I do love cute clothes. It isn’t red, but this outfit has a velvet blazer that I really like, and I recently found this one, which does come in a shade of red and is much less expensive:

3. Would you rather receive a heart-shaped box of candy or heart-shaped box of jewelry?
This is a tough one – I like both. In the interest of focusing on my health, I’ll go with jewelry.
4. Would you rather eat Reese’s Pieces or a Reese’s Peanut Butter Heart?
Reese’s Pieces all the way.
5. Would you rather watch a Valentine’s Day themed movie or an action movie?
I live with three men, we don’t watch Valentine’s Day themed movies – ha! I would rather watch a movie with my men that watch a Valentine’s Day themed movie by myself. And yes, they would watch a romantic movie with me if I really wanted them to, but they’d hate it, so why would I do that?
6. Would you rather give a box of chocolates to your person or a less than wonderful homemade card?
When my boys were really young, my husband would help them make a homemade card for me for Valentine’s Day each year. Those cards are some of my most precious possessions. I’d go with the homemade card for sure.
7. Would you rather go to Tahiti or Iceland for Valentine’s Day?
This is a tough one. I love tropical climates and the beach, but I’ve seen so many amazing pictures of Iceland that I’d love to go there too. Since I have to pick one, I’ll go with Iceland.
8. Would you rather sing “At Last” by Etta James or “I don’t want to miss a thing” by Aerosmith to your favorite person?
“I don’t want to miss a thing” is definitely more aligned to my outlook on life.
9. Would you rather celebrate Valentine’s day for a week or not at all?
Ugh, not at all. I like routine and the idea of a whole week being out of routine to celebrate sounds awful to me.

10. Would you rather eat a really sour piece of candy or a single brussel sprout dipped in chocolate?
I like sour candy – so that’s another easy one for me.
That’s a wrap on 10 on the 10th! Last week I shared some recent Amazon finds as well as some cute spring outfits from Target, just in case you missed it.

It sounds like you have been busy! Happy anniversary. And yes, I think the meme is funny!
Thank you Lisa!
Oh I just love a good jumpsuit! I wore a navy jumpsuit with some low heeled sandals to my son’s graduation last year and it was perfect.
That sounds pretty too Joanne!
That red velvet blazer is gorgeous!

I’m visiting from the 10 on the 10th link up. Happy Anniversary to you! I think every year should be celebrated. My girls are grown and married and I’m glad I married someone I love and like because we are back to just us. Although I currently have a daughter and her family living with us (temporarily). They’ve been overseas and are house hunting. You get used to your new routines as a couple and three little ones in the house kind of rock that lol. We love having them here though. Have a nice week!
Thank you for the anniversary wishes. I need all the advice I can get on this season of life!
Thanks for linking up for 10 on the 10th! It’s always fun to read someone else’s answers. I’m gonna have to disagree on the Reese’s pieces, though. I never taste enough peanut butter…or maybe I just think of them as strangely colored M & Ms and confuse my tastebuds! Love that red velvet jacket!

It is such a fun linkup – thank you for hosting!
I love that sweater! AND I love my Cricut too. I have the little joy but really want to upgrade to a bigger one.
I need to start participating in the 10 on the 10th! I enjoyed your post today! My son graduated from high school last year and I really enjoyed that time of the year. I ended up wearing a sleeveless dress as the graduation was held outside on the football field.

I’m visiting from the comment you left on my blog- speaking of those, I love yours! I will be back to visit often. You said something so kind, about how you felt like you were talking with a friend as you read my post yesterday; I honestly just felt the same way after reading this. I loved hearing about your life with homeschooling (I did that, too!), and your marriage being priority. That’s so wise! I share those sentiments with you about the importance of that; that being said, I am going through a divorce. I don’t recommend it one bit! I look forward to “getting to know you” more through this community. I hope you have an excellent day!
I am so enjoying hearing about your life, and you are so uplifting Jenn. I’m so sorry you are going through the divorce, my heart breaks for you. You have been such an inspiration in your positive attitude despite the pain. I’m praying for you.
